The next student-parent meeting for driver's education is scheduled from 6:30 till 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10, in the cafeteria at Smithfield-Selma High School, 700 Booker Dairy Road, Smithfield. One parent or guardian must attend with the student who will take driver's education. A student must be 14-1/2 to enroll in driver's ed. A back-to-school festival is scheduled from 9 a.m. till 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, at McGee's Crossroads Elementary School, 10330 N.C. 50 North at McGee's Crossroads. The festival will feature food, rides, a petting zoo, a silent auction, a dunk tank and vendors. Doughnuts and coffee will be available in the morning.The Smithfield-Selma High School class of 1974 will hold its 35-year reunion at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, at the Country Club of Johnston County.
