The Human Resources Development Program at Johnston Community College is offering the following classes in April:

• “Effective Strategies for Your Job Search,” 1-4 p.m. April 9 at the JobLink Center in the Clayton Corners shopping center on U.S. 70 in Clayton. The class will cover résumé writing, cover letters and interviewing skills. Call 209-2592 to register.

• “Re-Entry Workshop,” 5:30–8:30 p.m. April 15 in Room 115 in the Elsee Building on the Smithfield campus, 245 College Road. The class is designed for people with criminal histories. The they will learn how to complete a resume, write a cover letter, create follow-up letters and practice what to say during an interview. Call 209-2592 to register.

• “Computer Skills for Your Job Search,” from 8 a.m. till 1 p.m. April 14-17 in Room 115 in the Elsee Building on the Smithfield campus, 245 College Road. Topics include Internet job searches, e-mail and preparing employment-related documents. Call 209-2592 to register.

• “Smart Money,” 6–8 p.m. April 11 and April 22 at Johnston-Lee-Harnett Community Action, 1102 Massey St., Smithfield. Topics include consumer math for money handling and home ownership, budget development, managing credit, understanding banking services and avoiding scams and protecting your identity. Call 919-934-2145, Ext. 28, to register.

The courses are free to the unemployed, underemployed and those who have received notice of a pending layoff. For all others, the fees are $50 to $55 per class.
