A "town hall meeting" between school officials and Johnston citizens is scheduled from 7 till 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, at The Clayton Center, 111 E. 2nd St., Clayton.Superintendent of Schools Tony Parker and school board member Donna White will present an overview of the school system's mission and goals.The following will talk about how parent support and community support aid children in education and socialization: Tamara Barbour of Benson Elementary, Dee Edmondson of Wilson's Mills Elementary and Nancy Nettles of East Clayton Elementary.Marlon Lee, student advocate at Clayton High, and Mike Vinson, student advocate at Smithfield-Selma High, will talk about school from the students' perspective.The following will talk about the impact of domestic violence on children: Johnston Sheriff's Capt. Bengie Gaddis and Sheriff's Deputy Harold D. Mitchell Jr., a school resource officer.Finally, Pastor Donald Fozard of Durham will speak on how Christian education has affected the Durham County school system.
