Johnston County — The Johnston County Board of Education named new principals for five schools Tuesday.

Nancy Nettles, principal at East Clayton Elementary School, will become the new principal for Powhatan Elementary School. Patty Whittington has been promoted from assistant principal to principal at East Clayton.

Kimery Nobles Wellons is currently the principal at Four Oaks Elementary School. She will become the new principal at Princeton Elementary School. David Pearce will move up from assistant principal to principal at Four Oaks Elementary.

Cary Lane Cockrell, director of elementary curriculum for the county schools, will become the principal of Early College High School.

Shannon Hinton Sellers has been named an assistant principal at North Johnston High School.

Nettles, Wellons and Pearce will take their new positions April 1. On May 1, Cockrell starts her new job. Whittington starts her new position July 1, and Hinton Sellers March 17.
