Golf tourney April 25
The sixth annual West Band Golf Tournament will tee off at 1 p.m. Friday, April 25, at Reedy Creek Golf Course. The format is three-person captain's choice with par as your friend. The cost is $65 per player. Also, the organizers are seeking hole sponsorships, which are $100. For more information, contact Gary Yoder at 894-7621 or gyoder@nc.rr.com. Proceeds will benefit the West Johnston High School marching band.

Yard sale seeks items
The Band Parents Association at West Johnston High School is seeking donations of items for a yard sale next month. The sale will get under way at 7 a.m. Saturday, May 3, at Cleveland Road Super Storage on Cleveland Road. To donate items, call Robin Lazaro at 553-7945.

Auction seeks items
The Band Parents Association at West Johnston High School is seeking donations of items for an auction next month. The auction, with dinner, will begin at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, May 3, in the West High cafeteria. Already on the auction list are vacation getaways, handmade quilts, family photo shoots and gift certificates. To donate items for the auction, call Martha Engeman at 329-9923.Tickets to attend the auction and dinner are $15 each, or $100 for a table of eight. Scholarship winner
Megan Renee Jones of Four Oaks has received a $4,000 merit scholarship at Mount Olive College. Jones, the daughter of Allen and Kathy Jones, is a senior at South Johnston High School. She will enter Mount Olive College in the fall and plans to pursue a degree in athletic training and physical therapy. Mount Olive College awards merit scholarships based on grade-point average, class rank and SAT scores. The scholarship is renewable annually.
