Kenly — Fire officials are trying to determine what sparked a fire in a Kenly tire store Wednesday evening.

No injuries were reported at Renfrow’s Kenly Tire Services at 302 W. 2nd St. in the fire that was reported shortly after 8 p.m., said Jason Thompson of Johnston County 911 Communications.

Fire units from Johnston, Wayne and Wilson counties helped get the fire under control in about an hour.

Commuters were slowed for several hours on southbound U.S. 301 from W. Fourth Street to W. First Street, where traffic had been cut to one lane. N.C. 222 was closed at the site.
