Johnston County — Johnston County Sheriff’s deputies arrested four men on drug charges over the weekend. One of the suspects led deputies on a high-speed chase around the county for almost 30 minutes, authorities reported.

Zacchaeous Louis Scarboro, 24, of Middlesex, on Friday tried to avoid a patrol car at Waffle House in Kenly and then fled from the scene, said Capt. A.C. Fish of the Johnston County Sheriff's Office. When deputies caught up with him after a high-speed chase, they found a small amount of crack cocaine and marijuana on him, Fish said.

Scarboro was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine and maintaining a vehicle for a controlled substance. He was charged also with speeding, reckless driving, driving left of center, driving while license revoked, failure to stop at a stop sign and fleeing to elude arrest in a motor vehicle.

He was placed under a $103,000 bond.

Deputies arrested also Ronald Dale Wright Jr., 38, of 102 Pine Tree Lane, on Friday. He was charged with one count each of obtaining property by false pretenses, possession of stolen goods, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and injuring wires or other telephone fixtures. His bond was set at $60,000.

Capt. Fish said Wright was also wanted for previous breaking and entering charges. Deputies found him at a Four Oaks home after complaints of possible drug activity, Fish said. He had less than half an ounce of marijuana on him, Fish said.

On Saturday, Donald Ralph Hinson, 44, of 523 Crump St., Smithfield, was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine. His bond was set at $25,000.

Deputies also arrested Jerry Lynn White Jr., 40, of Dunn, and charged him with possession of marijuana, maintaining a vehicle for a controlled substance and possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine.

Deputies stopped Hinson and White for a faulty taillight on Market Street in Smithfield, Fish said. During a consent search, deputies found small amount of marijuana and cocaine on the men, he said.
