Smithfield — Additional charges have been filed against a former Smithfield pharmacist already charged with peeping into a neighbor’s home, police reported.

Lt. Keith Powell of the Smithfield Police Department said an investigation of Ben Earl Pell, 58, of 103 E. Stevens St., ended earlier this week. Powell said Pell turned himself in to police Wednesday, when he was served with warrants charging him with 15 counts of felony secret peeping.

Powell said he and other officers, including Detective Dale Wood, had identified 15 victims from 240 videotapes police seized from Pell’s home in April. Pell was charged with peeping into a neighbor’s home earlier this year.

Police have not revealed the content of the videotapes. But Powell said the video footage was shot in an employee restroom at Johnston Medical Center.

Pell is out of jail after posting a $25,000 bond. He was a full-time pharmacist at Johnston Memorial Hospital — now Johnston Medical Center — from 1975 until he retired in 2005. He had worked there on a part-time basis after retiring, but Suzette Rodriguez, a hospital spokeswoman, said Pell has been suspended indefinitely.
