CLAYTON -- Police in Clayton have arrested and charged a suspect in the Saturday shooting of a man in Clayton Estates Mobile Home Park.

Chief Glen Allen said Frankie Devone Clark, 48, was arrested today (Monday) at a home at 3607 Polenta Road in the Cleveland community. Clark was wanted on charges of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, inflicting serious injury; possession of a firearm by a convicted felon; and possession of cocaine.

He remains in the Johnston County jail under a $100,000 bond.

Allen said the shooting occurred about 3:30 p.m. Saturday outside Clark’s home at 705 Lakeview Drive. The victim, Dwight Thomas Ray, 37, of 221 Ellington Street, Clayton, was taken to WakeMed in Raleigh after suffering a gunshot wound.

Authorities have not yet determined a motive for the crime. Clark remains hospitalized today.

Also arrested at the home was 31-year-old Jennifer Cameron, who police had sought on previous unrelated felony charges of possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, selling and delivering Cocaine, and maintaining a vehicle or dwelling to sell controlled substances. Cameron was jailed under a $25,000 bond.
