Billy Massengill, 73, of Newport News, Va., died Sunday, May 24. Born March 21, 1936, in Johnston County, he was the son of the late Charlie D. and Esther Strickland Massengill.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 27, at Minshew Funeral Home, 5820 U.S. 301 South, Four Oaks. Burial will follow in the cemetery at Blackmon’s Grove Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Cheryl O. Johnson of Benson; a son, Billy Ray Wood of Benson; two sisters, Margaret L. Temple of Newport News, Va., and Judy A. Rogers of Hampton, Va.

The family will receive friends from 1 till 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
