Emily Estelle Beasley Schmitt, 85, died Monday, May 25, at Cape Fear Medical Center in Fayetteville.
Born Dec. 27, 1923, in Johnston County, Mrs. Schmitt was a daughter of the late Alfred and Emily Powell Beasley. She was the widow of Richard F. Schmitt. Mrs. Schmitt was an avid bowler, reader and traveler.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, May 29, in the mausoleum at Raleigh Memorial Park, 7501 Glenwood Ave., Raleigh.
Surviving are two daughters, Kathryn Nutt from Raleigh and Laura Bush of Fayetteville; three sisters, Valda Jones, Pat Anderson and Barbara Geis; two brothers, Don Beasley and Joe Beasley; and five grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 till 8 p.m. Thursday, May 28, at Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Ave., Raleigh.
