Buck Dunn, 73, of Four Oaks died Saturday, May 30, at his home surrounded by family and friends. He had long battled cancer.
Born June 3, 1935, in Johnston County, Mr. Dunn was a son of the late John Jacob and Pauline Dunn. He grew up in the Harper House on the Bentonville Battleground. Mr. Dunn graduated from Meadow High School and spent four years in the Army before returning to the family farm. He was active in his church and fire department.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday, June 1, at Mill Creek Christian Church. Pastors Jerry Burton and C.H. Lee will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Zelda McLamb Dunn; two sisters, Patia McCullen of Newton Grove and Paulette Dunn of Forest City; and two brothers, Larry Dunn of Benson and John Dunn of Newton Grove.
The family will receive friends from 6 till 8 p.m. Sunday, May 31, at West & Dunn Funeral Home, 503 Raleigh St., Newton Grove.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Mill Creek Christian Church, 5563 Harper House Road, Four Oaks, N.C. 27524; or to the Bentonville Volunteer Fire Department, in care of James Beasley, 8135 Devil’s Racetrack Road, Four Oaks, N.C. 27524.
