Born Nov. 26, 1917, in Johnston County, Mr. Noles was the son of the late John William and Susie McLamb Noles. He was a farmer and self-employed truck driver.

The funeral was at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 12, at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson. The Rev. Doug Abel officiated. Burial followed in the cemetery at Stone's Creek Church.

Surviving are his wife, Elsie Tew Noles of Raleigh; two sons, Joyce Waller of New Bern and Dona Stanley of Benson; two sons, Robert Earl Noles and Owen Randolph Noles, both of Morehead City; a half-sister, Gaynelle Edwards of Benson; a half-brother, Ralph Earl Noles of Benson; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
