Irene Hayes Parker, 87, of 754 Reedy Prong Road, Benson, died Friday, Oct. 16, at Johnston Medical Center in Smithfield.

Born Nov. 28, 1921, in Cumberland County, Mrs. Parker was a daughter of the late Albert B. and Hattie Jackson Hayes. She was the widow of Harvey D. Parker.

Mrs. Parker was a homemaker and a member of New Zealand Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church. She sold Stanley home products for more than 25 years.

The funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19, at New Zealand Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church. The Revs. Jeff Hayes, Herbert Johnson and Ronnie Jones officiated.

Burial followed in the cemetery at Unity Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are four daughters, Peggy Hinson and Cathy McLamb, both of Newton Grove, Betty Williford of Dunn and Brenda Williams of Richmond, Va.; three sons, J. Roger Parker of Four Oaks, Garry Parker of Newton Grove and Billy Ray Parker of Smithfield; two brothers, Harvey Hayes of Newton Grove and Howard Hayes of Richmond, Va.; 20 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorial contributions to New Zealand Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, P.O. Box 243 Newton Grove, N.C. 28366.
