Glenard Walter Bailey, 87, of 3930 Toot St., Linden, died Monday, Oct.
19, at the State Veterans Nursing Home in Fayetteville.Born May 2, 1922, in Johnston County, Mr. Bailey was a son of the late
Luther Waylon and Zula Belle Medlin Bailey. He served in the U.S. Army
during World War II. Mr. Bailey was a past commander of American
Legion Post 109 in Benson. He was a farmer and a Mason.The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, at Ebenezer
Presbyterian Church, 2900 Ebenezer Church Road, Coats. The Revs. Pat
Slomanski and Gray Williams will officiate. Burial with Masonic and
military rites will follow in the church cemetery.Surviving are two daughters, Teresa Gilchrist of Conover and Lucinda
Bailey of Fuquay-Varina; a brother, Donald Bailey of Benson; two
sisters, Ernestine Clodfelter of Hubert and Joyce Fleming of Cary;
three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 1 till 1:45 p.m. Thursday at the
