Jackie Geraldine Oliver Godwin, 85, of Goldsboro died Friday, May 9, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Born Jan. 6, 1923, in Johnston County, Mrs. Godwin was the daughter of the late James Robert and Myrtle Strickland Oliver. She was the widow of Roland Duvall “R.D.” Godwin. A graduate of Campbell College, Mrs. Godwin was a teacher assistant in the Wayne County schools. She was a member of Rosewood First Baptist Church, the Rosewood Home Extension Club and the Commission Women.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday, May 12, at Rosewood First Baptist Church. The Rev. Vernon Braswell will officiate. Entombment will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.
Surviving are her daughter, Ingrid Rose Cox of Rosewood; her son, Lars Duvall Godwin of Raleigh; and two grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 till 9 p.m. today (Sunday, May 11) at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at her home, 295 Perkins Road, Goldsboro.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Rosewood First Baptist Church, 562 N.C. 581 South, Goldsboro, N.C. 27530.
