Sarah Starling Massengill, 85, of Four Oaks, died Sunday, June 22, at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Smithfield.

Born in Johnston County, she was a daughter of the late James Ruffin and Minnie W. Starling.

Ms. Massengill was a member of Stewart’s Chapel Church.

She was a sales clerk at Weils in Goldsboro and Leder Brothers in Smithfield for many years.

She sold Avon products for more than 27 years and achieved its President’s Club for 25 years.

The family will receive friends from 7 till 9 p.m. today (Wednesday, June 25) at Minshew Funeral Home, 5820 U.S. 301 South, Four Oaks.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, June 26, at Stewart’s Chapel Church. The Rev. Freddie Langston will officiate.

Burial will follow in Hills of the Neuse Memory Gardens in Smithfield.

Surviving are a son, Thomas Massengill of Four Oaks; a daughter, Teresa Rhodes of Four Oaks; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
