Born August 16, 1934, in Johnston County, Mr. Brinkley was the son of the late Thelton and Maudie Eason Brinkley. He was the owner and operator of Carolina Survey Stake Co. Mr. Brinkley attended Branch Chapel Free Will Baptist Church.

The funeral will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 1, Parrish Funeral Home, 1351 S. Pollock St., Selma. The Rev. Terry Dennis will officiate. The family will receive friends after the service. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 2, in Pinecrest Memorial Park in Clayton.

Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Louise Oakley Brinkley; two sons, Keith Brinkley of Smithfield and Russell Brinkley of Chesapeake, Va.; two daughters, Barbara Swaim of Durham and Shirley Brinkley of Angier; four sisters, Jean Massengill of Four Oaks, Elsie Benson of Clayton, Rudean Senter of Fuquay-Varina and Helen Worley of Chapel Hill; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Branch Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, 7438 N.C. 96 North, Selma, N.C. 27576.
