Clyde Ethridge Byrd, 83, of 2406 Stephenson Road, Angier, died Monday, Aug. 11, at N.C. Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem.
Born Dec. 25, 1924, in Johnston County, Mr. Byrd was a son of the late Willie Sheppard and Bertha Langdon Byrd. His first wife was the late Meta Bell Byrd. Mr. Byrd was a brick mason and a member of Johnston Memorial Church. He was retired from the 50-210 Fire Department.
The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, at Johnson Memorial Church. The Rev. Chris Searles, Dr. Herbert Carter and the Rev. Murray King will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Surviving are his wife, Virginia Byrd; a daughter, Vickie Roberts of Angier; a son, Bobby Byrd of Angier; a brother, Rubert Byrd of Durham; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 till 9 p.m. today (Aug. 12) at Rose & Graham Funeral Home, 301 W. Main St., Benson; and other times at the home of Bobby and Christine Byrd, 620 Graham Pond Road, Angier.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Johnson Memorial Church, 8280 N.C. 50 North, Angier, N.C. 27501.
