Ira Chester Crumpler, 87, of Cleveland Road in the Cleveland community died Tuesday, Aug. 12. His first wife was the late Hazel Creech Crumpler.

Born March 3, 1921, in Johnston County, Mr. Crumpler was a truck driver and a farmer. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15, in Selma Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Billy Nowell will officiate. The family will receive friends in the cemetery after the service.

Surviving are his wife, Lois Langdon Crumpler; a brother, Thelbert Crumpler of Smithifeld; and several nieces and nephews.
