Dorothy Byrd Liles, 81, of 1711 Cooper Branch Road, Clayton, died Saturday, Aug. 16, at her home. Born Feb. 20, 1927, in Johnston County, she was a daughter of the late Merton and Alder Byrd. She was the widow of Mallie R. Liles.

The funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 18, at St. Mary’s Grove Free Will Baptist Church. The Rev. Aubrey Williamson officiated. Burial followed in Hills of the Neuse Memory Gardens near Smithfield.

Surviving are two daughters, Diane Colville of Erwin and Ginger Lee of Clayton; three sons, Donnie Liles, Ricky Liles and Ashley Liles, all of Clayton; a sister, Rena Mae Messer; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the Johnston County Council on Aging, 1363 W. Market St., Smithfield, N.C. 27577.
