Raymond Roland Matthews, 92, of Benson died Sunday, Sept. 21, at Western Wake Medical Center in Cary.

Born March 15, 1916, in Johnston County, Mr. Matthews was the son of the late L.O. and Sarah Cornelia Hodges Matthews. He was the widower of Mae Currin Matthews. Mr. Matthews was the retired own and operator of Matthews Seafood Co. He was a member of Benson United Methodist Church.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 26, at Rose & Graham Funeral Home, 301 W. Main St., Benson. The Rev. Bobby Smith will officiate. Burial will follow in Harnett Memorial Park in Lillington.

Surviving are a son, Don Matthews of Wake Forest; two sisters, Nita Wade and Geraldine Jackson, both of Lillington; two grandsons; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 5 till 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, at the funeral home.
