Thelma Pittman Wilkins, 89, of Pine Level died Wednesday, Oct. 1.

Born Nov. 2, 1918, in Johnston County, Mrs. Wilkins was a daughter of the late Walter and Mamie Woodard Pittman. She was the widow of William Chester “W.C.” Wilkins, who died in 2001.

Mrs. Wilkins retired as postmaster of the Pine Level Post Office. She was a member of Hephzibah Baptist Church and a past worthy matron of Selma Chapter No. 209 of the Order of the Eastern Star.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, in the cemetery at Hephzibah Baptist Church. The Rev. Matt Munday will officiate. The family will receive friends after the service.

Surviving are a son, Bill Wilkins of Clayton; two brothers, Carlee Pittman of Pine Level and Leroy Pittman of Kinston; and a sister, Lois McGinn of Glenburnie, Md.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the Cemetery Fund at Hephzibah Baptist Church, 4633 U.S. 70 East, Princeton, N.C. 27569.
