Born Dec. 8, 1934, in Johnston County, Mrs. Whitman was a daughter of the late Mancy and Alene Lee Beasley. She was a homemaker and attended Grace Bible Church.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 10, at Rose & Graham Funeral Home, 301 W. Main St., Benson. The Revs. Gerald Edwards and Lonnie Humphrey will officiate. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery in Benson.

Surviving are her husband of 58 years, Clifton Whitman; three daughters, Gail Gore of Fayetteville, Sharon Hopkins of Middlesex and Pamela Braswell of Princeton; two sisters, Mary Parrish of Durham and Edna Lockamy of Daytona, Fla.; a brother, Bennie Beasley of Florida; and seven grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 till 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, at the funeral home.
