Betty Watkins Brown, 89, of Smithfield died Sunday, Oct. 26, at Smithfield Manor.

Born Aug. 21, 1919, in Johnston County, Mrs. Brown was a daughter of the late John Andrew and Eula Maebelle Jones Watkins. She was the widow of Charles E. Brown. Mrs. Brown was a member of Oakland Presbyterian Church.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29, at Parrish Funeral Home, 1351 S. Pollock St., Selma. The Rev. Emerson Woodall will officiate. Burial will follow in the cemetery at Oakland Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are her brother, Johnny Watkins of Hillsborough; and two sisters, Dorothy Stephenson of Smithfield and Carolyn Myers of Four Oaks.

The family will receive friends from 7 till 9 p.m. today (Tuesday, Oct. 28) at the funeral home.
