Glenn W. Stancil, 83, of Kenly died Monday, Oct. 26, at Johnston Medical Center in Smithfield.
Born Nov. 30, 1924, in Johnston County, Mr. Stancil was a son of the late Alvin Roscoe and Esther Peedin Stancil. He was the widower Erma Lee Stancil. Mr. Stancil was veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a farmer and a tobacco grader with the U.S. Department of Agriculture for 38 years. Mr. Stancil Stancil was a church elder, Sunday School teacher and choir member. He served on the North Johnston High School Advisory Board from 1965 till 1974.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, at Center Ridge Presbyterian Church. The Revs. Richard McDuffie and Terry Dennis will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Surviving are a son, Wayne Stancil of Kenly; a sister, Virginia Fulghum of Kenly; a brother, Donell Stancil of Kenly; four grandchildren; a stepgranddaughter; and four great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 till 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, at Minshew-Coley Funeral Home, 103 E. 2nd St., Kenly.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the charity of one’s choice.
