James Reece Cox, 78, of 302 Greenleaf Road died Thursday, Nov. 13, at his home. Born Sept. 3, 1930, in Oconee County, Ga., he was a son of the late Fred E. and Missouri Austin Cox.
A veteran of the Koran War, Mr. Cox retired from the U.S. Army in 1968 after 21 years of service. He was also the retired owner and operator of Cox Radio & TV in Benson. Mr. Cox was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. He was also a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans and the 40&8.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 16, at Rose & Graham Funeral Home, 301 W. Main St., Benson. Brother Mack Fowler, the Rev. Don Price and the Rev. Billy Cashwell will officiate. Burial will follow in Harnett Devotional Gardens in Dunn.
Surviving are his wife, Alice McGee Cox; four daughters, Pat Penny and Tabatha Barbour, both of Benson, Pam Parrish of Willow Spring and Teresa Batten of Four Oaks; a son, Jimmy Cox of Clayton; two sisters, Irene Morris and Marguerite Mooney, both of Winder, Ga.; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 till 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, at the funeral home.
