Larry T. Hales, 48, of Durham, formerly of Kenly, died Friday, Jan. 2, at Duke University Medical Center.

Born Jan. 14, 1960, in Wilson County, Mr. Hales was a son of Dianne Boyette Hales and the late Tom Hales. He served in the U.S. Air Force and worked as a project manager for Ready Mix Concrete in Durham.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 4, in the fellowship hall at Center Ridge Church. The Rev. Rick McDuffie will officiate.

Surviving in addition to his mother are four brothers, John Hales and Joel Hales, both of Kenly, Lennie Hales of Montana and Keith Hales of Tennessee; and three sisters, Roberta Renning of Virginia Beach, Va., and Mary Jones and Tracy Raper, both of Kenly.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Kidney Foundation.
