With this edition, The Herald is increasing its distribution in Johnston County from about 14,000 to 47,000 in selected areas of Benson, Clayton, Four Oaks, Garner, Kenly, Micro, Pine Level, Princeton, Selma, Smithfield, Willow Springs and Wilson’s Mills.

So, what does it take to make such an enormous change?

To reach the selected areas, we decided to take a two-pronged approach to delivery.

If you live in Johnston County in one of these ZIP codes — 27504, 27520, 27527, 27529, 27542, 27569, 27576, 27577, 27524, 27592, 27555, 27568 or 27573 — and you already subscribe to The News & Observer on Wednesday, you’ll find The Herald tucked inside. We’re sending The Herald to 8,300 homes this way.

More than 39,000 copies of The Herald also will be delivered to select single-family homes in the same ZIP codes. Distributions will begin on Wednesday mornings and will be completed by 6 p.m. on Wednesdays. If you don’t receive your Herald by 6 p.m., please call customer service at 934-4920 on Thursdays before noon. We’ll address your delivery problem and advise you of the scope of distribution in your ZIP code. We won’t be on every driveway, but we’ll be on most of them. This includes single-family homes only.

You’ll still be able to buy The Herald in racks at selected areas. The Herald will also be available inside of The News & Observer in racks on Wednesdays.

If you are not in one of the areas included in free distribution and wish to receive The Herald by mail, subscriptions will be available for $24 a year in Johnston County and $35 a year outside of Johnston County.
