BUIES CREEK - North Johnston finished ninth in the state in boys golf on Tuesday at the 1-A state championships at Keith Hills Country Club near Buies Creek. High scores were the norm for most of the field in cold and windy conditions both days.
North shot 695 over the two-day event.
The Panthers' Will Shearin turned in a 76 on Tuesday to finish eighth in the state with a two-day, 36-hole total of 156.
East Surry won its fourth straight team championship.
