Riverwood Middle School athletic director Terry Tippett recently accepted the 2008-09 Hinnant Cup. The trophy, named in honor of former Johnston County Schools Associate Superintendent Dwight Hinnant, is presented annually to the Johnston County middle school that excelled throughout the year in athletic competition. Schools earn points based on the final standings in each sport area. Hinnant had a keen interest in athletics and worked to provide as many athletic opportunities as possible for the students of Johnston County Schools.
